About the Author
Donna Moore was born in Seattle and has lived in the Puget Sound region of Washington State most of her life. Before her retirement, she spent fifteen years working abroad for the U.S. Department of State in Libya, France, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, and Peru, and learned to appreciate many different viewpoints and traditions.
After moving to Bainbridge Island in 1976, she became fascinated with Native American customs and wisdom and especially came to admire the neighboring tribe, the Suquamish and their inspiring leader, Chief Seattle.
Donna's cultural heritage is Celtic which has its own long history of mystical traditions. A common thread in both these traditions is the awareness of the spirit world combined with a deep respect for and gratitude for the gifts of Mother Earth and our Great Creator.
For the last 20 years she has studied shamanism with Dr. Leslie Conton, Sandra Ingerman and Dr. Michael Harner, Director of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies; Tom Cowan, an expert on Celtic Spirituality and European Shamanic Traditions; Christina Pratt of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing in Portland, Oregon; and Roy I. Wilson, retired Methodist pastor, native of the Yakama Reservation, and traditional spiritual leader of the Cowlitz Indian tribe. She is deeply grateful to all these teachers for their wisdom clarity and inspiration.
